Our farm is located just outside of Poy Sippi/Pine River, WI. We became the first Certified Naturally Grown produce farm in Waushara County in June of 2016, and the first Certified Naturally Grown mushroom producer in the state of Wisconsin in 2019.
We sell our produce direct to you via farm pickup, and at the Oshkosh Downtown Farmers Market (June thru October).
We grow 100% of what we sell ourselves, and on our own property!!
We grow on a half-acre in raised beds and in a geodesic greenhouse, where we implement ecologically-friendly practices like composting and crop rotation to maintain our small and highly diverse farm.
For personal, environmental, and sustainability reasons, we don't use animal inputs of any kind in our operation.
Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) is a certification program for farmers and beekeepers who use natural practices, without any synthetic chemicals or GMOs, to produce food for their local communities. Many farmers choose CNG because its peer-review inspections serve to foster direct relationships and learning opportunities among farmers, in addition to verifying the program standards are being upheld.
We were inspired to live a plant-based lifestyle after watching the documentary, “Forks Over Knives” in 2012. In 2016, we earned certificates in Plant-Based nutrition from eCornell/ T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. From there, we started raising our own fruits and vegetables and soon after decided to bring our produce to market.
Are you wondering what sort of products we sell at the markets and on the farm?
Below are some examples, as well as time frames when the products are generally available. Availability varies by season and other growing conditions.
The list is certainly not inclusive of all of our products, but will give you an idea of what we grow on a regular basis!
Pick up your fresh Greens from Health by Plants. We have been told by many of our customers that they simply love our various greens, and we can’t say we blame them. Our most poplar offering is our Spicy Salad. We also offer lettuce mixes, salad mixes (lettuce and kale), pea greens and baby kale. June-October
Root crops are a staple for both cooking and storage. They are fantastic when eaten fresh, but very versatile in that they generally keep well and can be easily canned or frozen. Radishes, Turnips and Carrots are generally available throughout the growing season. Our root crops are sold by the bunch (June thru October).
We’re proud to offer our customers wholesome and seasonal Fresh Herbs. There are lots to choose from, and our offerings change depending on the time of year so you’ll always be surprised when you visit us. Some herbs we generally have are mint, oregano, basil, chives, catnip, lavender, sage, dill, cilantro, lemon balm and rosemary. All herbs are sold by the bunch. (May/June thru October).
Mushrooms are a new offering for us starting in 2019. All of our mushrooms are grown on logs set up in various areas of our property. We are currently growing Oyster and Shiitake mushrooms. Mushrooms often are ready when they decide to be, but generally start becoming available in April/May and are sold through October.
TOMATILLO SALSA KITS
Grab one of our Tomatillo Salsa Kits to make a great batch of salsa at home! Our kits include tomatillos, jalapeños, onion, garlic and a recipe for creating your own batch of salsa. All you need to add are the spices and lime juice! Our salsa kits are generally available starting mid-summer through the first freeze.
We LOVE shallots! Shallots are a milder onion. Some say the flavor resides somewhere between an onion and garlic. These are GREAT in salads or used raw. They also have a better storage life than typical onions. Shallots are generally available starting sometimes in July through the end of the year.
We offer two different varieties of garlic in a couple different sizes. We grow hard neck garlic which, unlike much of the soft neck garlic you find in stores, has fewer and larger cloves. It is much easier to work with than soft neck varieties with excellent garlic flavors. We grow both German White and Music garlic. We also offer garlic scapes which come in early summer and makes for a great addition to many dishes. Garlic is generally available mid-late summer through the end of the year.
PEPPERS AND EGGPLANT
Looking to add some color to your cooking? Offering vary by year, but we generally have several different types of eggplants as well as bell peppers, jalapeño peppers and our very popular sweet picnic peppers. Available late summer through fall.
